Welcome to the Green Giants
The Signal Mountain Green Giants have been swimming as a team since the 1950's.  As a team, we participate in many swim meets as part of the Chattanooga Area Swim League. Our success is due to our great coaching, supportive parents and the commitment we have to our team.  If you're interested in joining the team, contact Christine Gordon at christine.gordon@erlanger.org.

WEEKLY UP-DATE!!

GOOD LUCK Divers!! The divers will be starting off the City Meet tomorrow with their Dive Meet at Dalton High School!! Best of luck to all the divers who will be competing!!

PRACTICE CHANGES FOR WEEK OF JULY 12-16! NO practice on Thursday night so everyone can get a good nights rest before City Meet on Friday and Saturday!

REMEMBER!!! It's extremely important that all swimmers getting plenty of rest this week and most importantly stay hydrated. This means drinking plenty of fluids leading up to Friday and Saturday - not just during the meet.

VERY IMPORTANT!!! Please DO NOT leave the pool without knowing for 100% certain whether or not your swimmer made finals!

Relays for City Meet ... the majority of age groups will have numerous relays. These relays will be decided on the day off so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not leave without checking in with the coaches to see if you are swimming in a relay after your last swim!! With our depth of swimmers we are able to have multiple relays and they all have the potential to score points!

FOR NEW SWIMMERS ... this meet is ran completely different that our dual meets. For those of you who participated in the Developmental Meet - the City Meet is ran pretty much in the same format. Please purchase a heat sheet - typically sold for $5 or $10 - so you know what event number, heat, and lane your swimmer is in! Swimmers will be called and asked to report to "Clerk of Course" prior to their event ... it's extremely important that you listen for these annoucements so they don't miss their race.

CITY MEET ENTRIES are posted. Please check to see what your swimmer(s) are swimming each day. You can view the Psych Sheet by visiting www.ccacswimming.org.

CRASH AREA/SEATING: We did happen to get a pretty good spot for our crash site/seating. We are located behind the pool - directly behind the starting blocks. For those of you that swam at the Ft. Oglethorpe pool a few weeks ago - we are in the grassy area between the pool and the tennis courts. The seating areas will be marked and we'll be going down Thursday evening to set up tents in our area. If you'd like to volunteer your personal tent for Friday and Saturday, please let us know. It's going to be hot and sunny and we hope to provide as much shade to our swimmers as possible. We will be going to Fort O on Thursday night at 4 p.m. to set up. If you'd like to volunteer your tent please drop it off at the pool either Wednesday evening or Thursday morning. Please make sure you put your name on your tent.

PARKING: There will be limited parking in the parea area via Van Cleve Street into the park on Norris Street. There will also be parking in a grass field via Gilbert Drive that is accessible from Old US 27 (Lafayette Road) that runs down into the battlefield. Swimmers will also have access to a church parking lot on Van Cleve immediately outside the park and an overflow area at teh Ft. Oglethorpe City Hall off of Fant Drive. Tehre is a .5 mile walking path that connects City hall to the park as well. They are hoping to provide shuttle service from this lot.

The City Meet organizers will also plans to have a great concession stand in the main pool area as well as a remote stand across the creek to make things easier for those crashing out there. They will supply a variety of snacks available as well as substantial food for lunches/dinners from Chic-fil-a and McAllisters's Deli. Swim and Tri will also be on-site for swim gear and a photogrpaher taking action shots that can be viewed, printed and purchased onsite.  City Meet t-shirts and heat sheets will also be for sale.

Don't forget to plan on joining us for our Awards Picnic on Sunday, July 18 at 6 p.m. Each family needs to bring some sort of finger food (chicken tenders, pigs in a blanket, pizza, etc.) or a side dish and a 2 liter drink. Please don't bring desert, the Board will provide these. Anyone wanting to come a little early and help set up we would love to have you!
